There are a lot of lies you may hear in the coaching industry, but the one I’m sharing with you today is probably the biggest. So many people I know have fallen for this lie, and if you believe it, it can make things so much harder for you.

Okay, so what’s the lie? It’s this: “What got you here will not get you there.” It’s so easy to believe because we’re always trying to grow and expand, but when we get stuck, we’re told it’s because we’re doing the same things that got us to this point of success. We can’t possibly do that again to reach the next level, so we have to try something different.

I mean, it makes sense, right? So then we go and chase the next best strategy, and then the next best strategy, and then the next best strategy.

Why “What got you here will not get you there” is a lie

Let’s dissect this for a minute. What I know to be true in my own experience and in my client’s experiences is that what got you here is exactly what’s going to get you there. You just have to be really intentional about it.

What do I mean by that? You didn’t get where you are by luck or chance. There’s something you’re doing in there that’s working whether it’s mindset, strategy, or everything in between.

Success leaves clues. So, take a look at your business. See what’s working and where you’re having success. Identify what exactly you’re doing that has helped you get to where you are now. Then, turn up the heat on your secret sauce. You’ve been serving, selling, winning, and showing up – and seeing success.

How I’ve used what I’ve done in the past to get me where I am now

So, get intentional. Look at what that success is, what it looks like, how it feels, and then crank up the heat.

How do you crank up the heat? Here’s an example from my own business. When I unlocked my first $50K month in January 2024, I used two strategies that had worked well for me in the past. I was just doing them on a bigger scale with more intention. It felt easy because what got me here also got me there.

What works for you is the best way

The truth is, your success will always leave you clues. If you spend all your time and energy searching for the thing you don’t know or trying to do it in a way that has never worked for you, you’re going to get stuck.

There is no better way than the way that works for you and feels good for you. When you can turn up the dial on that, that’s what will unlock your next level of income. Use the roadmap you’ve been building this whole time. I promise when you do, it will be so much easier.
